MY RELEASE

Hello, welcome!

I'm Diego G. Sanches a visual and graffiti artist, as well as an enthusiast of generative art through programming. I also reister elements of life with photos and videos as an amateur. Born in 1988 in Votorantim, I currently reside in São Paulo, Brazil.

From childhood, I pursued art in a self-taught way, working on projects like reproducing drawings, creating collages, and building miniature balloons and kites. In the late 90s, while still in school, graffiti definitively captured my attention. In 2002, I embarked on my graffiti journey, creating urban interventions in various cities—and I've never stopped since!

For more than 15 years, I built a professional career that began early with unique roles such as a watchmaker—a craft that later intertwined with my artistic productions. After completing a graphic design course, I entered the communications field, crafting graphic materials, which eventually led me to become a web designer in 2009.

I further deepened my technical skills in software development and technology project management, accumulating over 10 years of experience at advertising agencies, IT companies, and as the owner of a software production firm. This experience enabled me to work on large-scale projects for global brands such as Intel, Heineken, Amstel, Samsung, Unilever, Mercedes-Benz, Yahoo, and others.

My artistic production has always evolved alongside my professional pursuits, spanning from bombings, tags, and "pixo" to murals and trips for graffiti events across Brazil.

TIMELINE

2015: I began my first artistic study focused on abstraction and action painting, experimenting with graffiti techniques and digital manipulation to create compositions with unique depth and textures. In the following years, I also explored artistic prints and engravings.

2021: I resumed my research with the main goal of transferring the textures of graffiti walls to other artistic platforms such as fabrics, canvases, objects, and digital experiments.

2022: I participated in a collective studio in downtown São Paulo, exchanging creative processes, career experiences, and insights about the art market with other artists.

2023: I completed my first collection of generative art—a result of four months of intensive research—using JavaScript and Processing to generate unique visual patterns through algorithmic randomness. That same year, I showcased some of these works at a public studio opening event alongside four other artists. [link to photos]

2024: I wrapped up a nearly two-year study on 3D forms and perspectives, exploring the aesthetics of brutalist architecture. The focus was on understanding how these structures can be both aggressive in their rustic concrete textures and simultaneously balanced and elegant. From this investigation emerged a coded animation that reflects this harmonious balance, along with a collection of 25 grayscale paintings.

2025: I started a new research project featuring abstract action painting inspired by studies on patterns found in tiled floors and broken pieces—elements characteristic of old Brazilian homes. The goal is to broaden the perspective on everyday patterns and forms, merging past and present.

Currently, I am cataloging and preparing the production for my first solo exhibition, which will feature interactive installations arranged chronologically to showcase the first 25 years of my artistic journey.
